For pet names beginning with "O".
Oliver, 09/03/1996 - 03/21/2013
We lost our beloved Oliver, a Shih Tzu, on March 21, 2013,
when he was put to sleep at the Vet's for renal failure at the
age of 16 1/2. He was a sweet quiet loving little soul who we
got as a foreclosure rescue in 2009. Other than congestive heart
and arthritis, he led a normal relatively healthy life until
Fall, 2012 when the renal symptoms appeared.
Oh, Oliver, how we miss your sweet quiet little soul blessing us
and our home. You came to us with a bad case of PTSD from being
abandoned in that house, yet, despite your age, you tried your
best to settle in and adopt us as your new parents. We miss you
and your unique little personality and love so much. We're sorry
to have taken so long to honor your memory at Rainbow Bridge but
we had a childish hope that God would bring a miracle and you
would be back with us again, healed and healthy. We hope you
have found happiness at Rainbow Bridge and have found your
Shihpoo girlfriend, Petal, who passed away in April, 2008. You
both loved each other so much over the years. We hope as you
crossed Rainbow Bridge that you were healed and that you feel
good again.
We want you to know we miss you every day and will never
forget you. Until we join you in heaven, We love you forever.

Oreo, July 2011 - September 2, 2013
Oreo was the Energizer Bunny but sadly she succumbed to lymphoma
after what appeared to be a relatively brief illness, even though
it felt like years as we went on the journey with her. She was
radiant and full of life and we used to say she was the healthiest
dog we ever knew. She would be willing to play frisbee at a
moment's notice and had this wonderful howl of a greeting whenever
we came back home and we would "sing" together this howl until we
were sufficiently welcomed. She threw her head back whenever
she walked ahead of us as if to say, let's go! She loved
people and several of our friends would get the "grin" whenever
they came over and she would not stop until they paid attention to
her as if to say, here I am, you are my friend. She
tolerated her brother Mack, but in her own way she knew he was her
protector because when she was afraid she would hide behind my
legs and let Mack take the lead. She wasn't afraid of
anything outdoors but she could be afraid of wood or tile floors,
furniture that might move, rooms she was unfamiliar with, and
anything that made a loud noise. Thunder was her nemesis and we
eventually had to get her the Thunder Shirt on those days when it
was too much for her. She wasn't a fan of football either, leaving
the room and going to her crate whenever we had the gang over for
what sounded to her like thunder when we cheered. She loved beer
and alcohol...we could not figure that out but she wanted your
beer if you were drinking it and a few times we let her lick our
fingers with alcohol on it and she would lap it up as if to say,
where's my drink? We didn't let her have it but it was a
very strange behavior for a dog to want to drink alcohol.
She left us in her most trusted place, her bed and we will forever
remember our Punky Pete for as long as we live. Hope we see you on
the other side of the bridge, our sweet little girl.
Oscar, Sept 14, 1997 - April 30, 2013
Good bye lil buddy. You're with KC and Maddie now. I'll see
you again one day.
OscarWildeCat, March 31, 1997 - August
4, 2013
Oscar -- handsome long-haired black kitten with the amazing
"chocolate" undercoat, born feral under the back porch of my
university dean's residence as winter turned to spring in 1997,
voice-tamed and finally lured inside when you were six months old,
you gradually learned to trust and finally to cuddle. What a
loving and loyal companion you've been, and what a sweet and
welcoming presence, first at 53D and then at 124C. Your special
perches in the sunny spots by your two favorite windows look empty
without you. Rest now with Bailey, Lyle, Moses, Magoo,
Guinness, and Sebastian with whom you shared such good times, and
know how much you've been loved and how much your gentle, sweet
presence will be missed.
Fitch, Pinta, Tyler, and the people who have loved you so very
much along the way.
Osita Marie, March 6, 2005 - Jan 15,
2013
Osita, I'll never forget the day a lady came into our fire
station, needing help because she had a puppy stuck under her car
seat. We got it out, and admired how cute it was, and she said she
had a sister to it that I could have. So I called your Mom and
asked her to come by the station and pick something up to take
home. She said, "Oh great, what kind is it this time?" She knew
what a sucker I was for a pretty face. You looked like a little
teddy bear, so we named you Osita- little bear. Although you
looked more like your mother, a chow/husky mix, than your father,
a golden retriever, you never showed a hint of chow personality.
You were one of the sweetest, most loving dogs, I've ever had. Oh,
you could show a temper sometimes. When you didn't want to go back
in your pen when called, you would shake your head, fall down, and
scoot on your back, and then get up and go in as told. And you
liked to make sure that Katie the lab knew you were the boss.
You'd run around and bark at her, trying to intimidate her, which
you succeeded at. But you loved and cared for each other deeply.
And every morning, before eating breakfast, you had to check on
your cats, Miller and Toby. You were so gentle with them, and
loved them dearly too. I'm so sorry that nobody realized the
illness that you must have hidden so well. You seemed fine one
day, and very sick the next. But it's comforting to know that the
last words you heard were your Mom and me telling you how much we
all loved you. There will never be another Chowsky Retriever like
you. Mom, Katie, and I all love you very much.
Otis, 04-01-2003 - 11-05-2012
My first dog, 6 months gone and I still think of him every day. We
found Otis not long after arriving in Australia. I think he'd had
a rough first 6 months - he featured in the local paper having
been thrown out of a car. Luckily he was rescued and taken around
to the local RSPCA. When we asked to see him, he immediately
rolled on his back and widdled - so happy to have someone pay him
attention. A lovely dog, enjoyed his human company, a red cattle
dog cross (goodness knows with what), unusual looking, with ears
like that we should have called him Spock. Give him a decent sized
puddle, he could entertain himself for hours and he loved soccer
balls. Don't let anyone kid you that Enduro balls last forever.
Given time, a strong set of jaws and determination, anything is
possible. He never complained despite the pain of his illness, and
the treatment, and he knew his Mum and Dad loved him dearly. Dear
friend, thank you for 10 years of unforgettable memories.
Otis, 07/15/04 - 01/19/13
My silly goof, Otis. You are my doggie soulmate, my best friend. I
miss you terribly. I love you so much. I loved the way you could
make me laugh, and the way you knew when I was down. Your little
loving eyes always made me feel better. You were the funniest dog
I have ever met. Your tenacity and enthusiasm for fetch was
unmatched by any other dog, perhaps ever!! You were the best
snuggle bud. I will always miss curling up with you, and looking
into your little face. I will miss you scooting your butt up to
me, and leaning into me, and sitting on my feet. I will miss
dancing with you in the kitchen. I will miss taking pictures of
you. I will miss throwing you the ball. I will miss watching you
lay in the sun. Your energy was so infectious. You were the best
walking partner ever! You pushed me to walk faster and farther.
You were the friendliest dog ever, and never met a person or
another dog you didn't love. So many people cared about you and
loved you. There are so many little things that will never be the
same without you. The love you gave me was unconditional and
everlasting. I am so grateful that you were my dog, and so
grateful you chose me to be your mommy. I will cherish you in my
heart forever. I love you, I love you, I love you my silly goof!!
Otto Livingston, 04/08 - 02/16/13
