My sweet little Ali girl…you are forever in my heart and we will
miss you forever.
You came into our lives as an 8 week old puppy from Westie
Whispers in Nebraska. We picked you before you were even born. We
saw your puppy picture when your eyes were barely open. What a
cutie.
You were definitely a terrier (used to call you our little
terrierist). Your energy showed no bounds. You had the biggest
donkey ears, but eventually your head caught up! For 15 years you
snuggled next to me in bed, and on the couch when we watched TV.
At 3 years old, we thought we were going to lose you when you
developed Addison’s disease. But, you bounced back, started taking
monthly injections and daily prednisone. It was a miracle.
What a good traveler sitting/laying in your seat in the car. We
took a lot of driving trips with you. Such a good girl. So many
daily walks we took together. You loved those. How cute you were
with your different color harnesses. Everyone who saw you
commented on what an adorable pup you were.
At 13 years old, once again we thought we were losing you when you
developed a cancerous tumor on your spleen, which was removed.
Such a brave girl you were as you endured a splenectomy. Several
weeks later you were healthy and cancer free! It was again a
miracle.
You slowed down in the last couple years, but still had alot of
spunk for your age and what a beautiful girl!
Last week was a whirlwind. You fell ill so quickly. I always new
the day was coming sooner rather than later when we would have to
say goodbye, but I wasn’t ready. You quit eating, which was
the only thing you could control. I know you were telling me that
you were tired and hurting. It was the most devastating day of my
life, but we were able to give you the sweetest ending on your
favorite spot on the couch.
You were my heart and eventually I will look at your pictures and
be happy, instead of this incredible pain.
I love you so much my Ali bug…until we meet again!
