11-26-2008 I was at the pet food store to pick up a
couple of bags for my two dogs. This particular store has a room
of adoptable cats for viewing. My cat Tyler had passed away 5
months earlier and I was not going to get another cat as my grief
had been too much. As I walked passed the cat room I looked
through the glass and saw a beautiful short haired dilute calico.
I asked to see her and put her on my lap and the rest was history.
Her name was Alyssa but we called her Aly. As soon as Aly walked
in our house, she knew she had found her forever home. She used to
run back and forth from our kitchen to our living room but because
we had hard wood floors you could hear her paws going like crazy,
but she didn’t get very far. It was one of the cutest things she
did. She also loved to jump up on our kitchen table while we were
eating though she didn’t beg for food and was never really into
treats. Aly also made a habit of jumping up on our counters to get
a drink from our faucets. She was never fond of our dogs but never
once hissed or pawed at them. She wound up living with 7 different
dogs in her lifetime. Aly was a wonderful little girl who never
did anything wrong. She loved her home and we loved her very much.
A few years ago, she was diagnosed with pancreatitis and irritable
bowel disease. She was doing okay on her medication with
occasional flare ups.
We took Aly in for a checkup with our new vet (as our regular vet
had retired) and they suggested that we do an ultrasound.
The results of the test were devastating. She was diagnosed on
12/20/21 with bladder cancer, a tumor in her kidney, diabetes, and
a reoccurring urinary tract infection. Because she was now
16 years old and had other medical problems, we didn’t want to put
her through chemotherapy. We medicated her for diabetes and
urinary tract infection but along with her other problems it was
hard to keep them under control. Little by little she started
slowing down, playing less, sleeping more, eating less and losing
weight. The last couple of months she really started
deteriorating. She lost over two pounds in the two months and was
very weak. This last week she stopped eating completely even
though she was hungry and came looking for food. On 7/11/22 we
sent her on her journey to the rainbow bridge. Aly was the
sweetest most beautiful kitty I have ever seen. Aly was a
wonderful girl. She will always be in our hearts and our thoughts.
We love you little girl

So much to say and no words can describe it.
Only the love remains.
Let's set the record straight - you were never a pet!
I went all the way to Miami just to have you in my life:).
We miss you so much and will see you on the other side. XOXO.
