Dear Xanie,
I miss you very much. I hope you are happy in heaven.
You lit up my life with love. I am happy you are pain free and jumping
and playing on the other side of the rainbow bridge.
Please kiss Baby Darren and Grandpa Sonny for me.
Soon we will be together again.
Daddy, Deb, Dan and Dayna send their love.
Love you forever, mommy
Xena was a good-looking parrot. I had to have her and how could I have known that she carried this terrible disease called PDD (Proventricular Dilation Disease) aka Macaw Wasting Disease. She kept begging to be handfed, and I took her to the vet. He said, after running several tests, that she was healthy -- but neurotic. ""If she was a human, she would need a therapist!"" he joked. The very next day Xena was in the emergency clinic -- close to death. The avian vet found out that she had PDD -- a terminal disease. Xena lived for two months after that devastating diagnosis. We spent all the time together. During the day she would sit in the office with me, and in the evening we would enjoy the glow of the fireplace ... Losing her was one of the hardest experiences in my life ... It may not be over for me yet, she had a mate - Newton, who may or may not have caught the disease from her. He appears healthy still. Please include him in your prayers. Sibylle Faye
